Step 5- After that, keep the stem in a humid climate.

Step 6- You have to water them for continuous 6-8 weeks.

Step 7- After this, you can transplant your mint plant to its final growing position where it will get set.

Mint plants tend to thrive in the full sun which means that they require 6 hours of sunlight for their growth.

You need to have everything ready before you start to take cuttings from Mint. You need to have sharp scissors or pruning shears so that you can cut the stem about 3 to 5 inches long. After cutting the stem you need to remove at least 2 to 3 leaves if they are present in the lower portion of the stem and leave the leaves on the top of the stem.  You will see the new growth at the nodes of the stem. The perfect time for growing mint from cutting is when the parent plant is in full growth during late spring or early summer which should start before the plant starts blooming. You need to make sure that the plant is healthy and doesn’t contain any pests and diseases. 

Root Cuttings:

The following are some steps to start root cutting during the autumn or winter season:

  • For excavating thick roofs you can use a hand fork around the edges where you already plant mint in the garden. 
  • Next, you need to cut the long sections of the plant’s roots which look healthy that you can use for cuttings. 
  • For cutting the section you need to use a sharp knife and make a cut of 2-3 cm long. 
  • In case of indoor planting or undercover you need a seed tray filled with a 50/50 mix of compost and horticulture grit. After that put the cutting flat on the surface of the tray and lastly cover the cutting with more compost and water the cutting regularly. 
  • After growing new roots you need to put the plant into a new container for further growing or you can also plant it directly into the garden soil between March and May. 

Growing mint by planting cuttings in water

Here are the steps for growing mint by planting and cutting in water is such as

  • If you do not have a mature plant you need a friend from whom you can take 8- to 10-centimeter-long stem cuttings.
  • After having the stem cutting you need to make a cut using shears at the node from where the new branch will begin. 
  • Next, you need to remove 2 to 3 leaves from the stem-cutting bottom and leave some at the top of the stem-cutting. 
  • You can also buy cutting from the nearby store that is healthy, lush green mint sprigs and plant it as soon as possible. 
  • Select the cutting that has longer stems and does have an area for root growth. 
  • Before planting the stem cutting you need to soak it in a jar holding about 2.5 centimeters of water. 
  • After that, you need to keep the jar in an airy space where it doesn’t come in contact with direct sunlight for a week. 
  • You need to replace water from the jar daily especially when the water turns to brackish so that the plant grows healthily. 
  • After growing roots about 8 centimeters, you can move it to a peat-free, moist potting medium. 
  • When the roots grow more you need to move the plants to bigger size containers.
